Rigetti Computing

Open To All Scholars

Dates: Jun 1 – Aug 30, 2025, participants must be available during the entire 10-week period of the program.

Description: At Rigetti Computing, we build quantum computers and the superconducting quantum processors that power them. Our facilities are located in Berkeley and Fremont, CA.

Selected students will join a cohort of undergraduate and graduate interns to work on projects ranging from quantum algorithm development to superconducting qubit experiments. During this work, interns will be able to develop and/or strengthen their research skill sets, such as:

  • Project planning and problem solving
  • Technical communication and presentation
  • Superconducting qubit physics
  • Experience with project-specific tools (example: cryogenic hardware, high-frequency electronics, scientific code development, simulation software)

We hope the experience will help the interns assess their interest in pursuing a degree or research career in quantum physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and/or computer science. As part of the internship, interns will be receiving close mentorship, partaking in technical team meetings, and networking with Rigetti’s scientists and engineers who come from various disciplines and backgrounds. Interns will also be able to learn about the quantum computing field from a business perspective and get a glimpse into what scientific opportunities are available after college and/or graduate school.

Additional internship program events:

  • Professional development activities and panels
  • Social activities
  • Field trips

For students interested in learning more about Rigetti’s internship program, check out our past blog post here: https://medium.com/@rigetticomputing.

Stipend: $35/hour

Housing: A housing supplement is available. In-office lunches are provided.

Application: Applications are due February 1, 2025. To apply to the program, go to the Application Home Page. In addition, you must ask two faculty members (or others familiar with your academic or work background) to submit letters of reference. Indicate their names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses in your on-line application where appropriate.

As part of the application process, a Rigetti employee may be reaching out to speak with intern candidates about potential project fits.
