Solid-state ionizing particle instrumentation research and development
Professor: Bruce Schumm
Description: The Scholar will join a group pursuing several ideas on the forefront of instrumentation development. The group is pushing boundaries in terms of speed, timing resolution, and radiation tolerance. Sensor materials include silicon diode and bulk diamond. Sensor characterization, electronics development and characterization, and system simulation through high-end TCAD packages are possible points of engagement.
Preferred Qualifications: Introductory Electricity and Magnetism is helpful but not absolutely necessary.
