Galaxy formation in the early universe
Professor: Tucker Jones
Description: The scholar will be part of a research group studying the formation and evolution of galaxies using data from the James Webb Space Telescope, Keck Observatory, and other facilities. The student will analyze data and write code in order to measure the physical properties of distant galaxies. Specific projects may include studying heavy element abundances, emergence of galaxy disks, and the circumgalactic medium.
Preferred Qualifications: Python functional programming, data analysis and statistics (e.g. standard deviation, chi-square)
