Detecting and characterizing planets orbiting other stars
Professor: Courtney Dressing
Description: Available projects include (1) analyzing data from the NASA TESS mission to detect new planet candidates or refine the properties of known planets; (2) simulating the detectability of planets in data from the upcoming Roman Space Telescope; (3) simulating observations of planetary atmospheres. The specific project would be determined based on student interest, coding experience, and knowledge of astrophysics. Projects are available for a variety of experience levels.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience programming in python would be helpful, but is not required
